It is the philosophy of CALAYA ENG that accidents/injuries are preventable and n herefore unacceptable in her operations. CALA YA ENG Limited shall therefore integrate safety into her business and will vigorously pursue all accident prevention programme  through her well-structured and effective HSE Systems.

CALAYA ENG activities will therefore be organized, planned and executed in such a
manner as to:

  • Protect and promote the health of its work force as well as the conduct of its
    activities in such a manner not to adversely affect any third party (host
    Community inclusive).
  • Avoid injury to any workers, sub-contractors, and third parties who are either
    involved in or are by CALAYA ENG activities.
  • Ensure the personal security of the work force and third parties and the security of property.

  • Minimize the impact on the environment in which CALAYA ENG Operates.

Every employee of CALAYA ENG shall perform his/her work in accordance with this policy and work must be suspended when it is believed that essential safety systems are not in place. Management and Supervisors will be accountable for the safety of the employees working under their supervision, and will be expected to organize and conduct operations in a safe manner at all times. Employees are reminded that they have a duty under the lay to take reasonable care for their own safety and safety of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions and also to co-operate with statutory safety obligations which include adherence to company HSE Policy, rules and regulations. The implementation, of this policy is the responsibility of supervisors under delegated control and co-ordination of HSES Manager.

Strategic Objective: Consolidation of systems and processes to drive operational excellence in the management of health and safety risks or environmental impacts.

Key Actions:
-- Further implement the CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD standardized HSE Management System (MS) in all spheres of the company

-- Continue implementation of the CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD HSE incident reporting system within an overall framework of Risk Management to monitor the accuracy, timeliness and reporting of HSE incidents.

All operations of CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD shall be planned and executed in such a way as to minimize any adverse effects or impact on the environment in which we work. CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD shall promote and encourage plans, activities, and programmes aimed at environmental preservation and protection. Staffs are encouraged to pay appropriate regard to the environment by protecting it
from adverse effect. All wastes generated in course of our operations must be collected, handled, treated and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner Discharge of pollutants into air, or in water bodies is strictly prohibited. All such disregard to environmental laws must be reported immediately. "The Environment is our common home, we must protect it".

CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD Foremost interest in all projects is SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; and we will demonstrate SAFETY in all our operations. We are already conversant with Client safety policy and standards, which will be adhered to in conjunction with our own safety policy in the execution of our contract services.

We have familiarized ourselves with requirements for STANDARDS FOR ON/OFFSHORE PROJECTS MANAGEMENT and will incorporate all standards into our operations. CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD will also provide all necessary safety clothing and equipment for all personnel.
We will ensure that persons engaged in work and services in all contracts shall remain medically fit throughout the duration of the contracts. We will be prepared to present certificates of medical fitness on all personnel and ensure that all
personnel are Client certified swimmers.

CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD shall engage the services of a safety manager and a project manager who will ultimately be responsible for safety in our operations. The staff will also have experienced safety officers who are well acquainted with Client's safety regulations and will ensure that all proper work permits and complementary certificates are obtained prior to commencement of work and shall keep them up to date daily and ensure that all safe working practices are observed during the execution of all contracts.

We shall strictly enforce the permit to work system before commencement of any work. Only Client's authorizations can action any night movement. CALAYA ENG. SER. LTD have' 'Accident/workmen's compensation insurance policy for their workers against any occupational disease or any other impairment to health or injury by accident.

Our policy on work and services quality is to utilize available and relevant resources to meet client’s project objective in a safe and timely manner.

We are responsible for the preparation and execution of the QA/QC plan and procedure to achieve good results.

The requirements of the QA/QC procedure for the project in conjunction with the condition of contract shall be used in achieving good quality work.

Our site supervisor in support of QA/QC foreman shall form the key QA/QC team for this project and shall on the management mandate enforce and ensure strict compliance to all quality requirements. They shall be responsible to Company representative/inspector on quality control matters.

CALAYA ENGINEERING SERVICES LIMITED is an indigenous company that specializes in engineering chemicals, corrosion coatings, & control, industrial, facility & residential painting insulation wellhead maintenance, production facilities & pipeline support services etc.

We have been operational in the oil and gas industry since inception and have worked with Zero incidents free in all our areas of operations.
We have qualified Nigerian personnel and have been providing world class services to the domestic and international need for our Nigerian oil and gas exploration, Production, Refining and Petrochemicals industries both in upstream and downstream sector.
The management is all Nigerian with Mr. Tony Osuagwu (Managing Director) being a Nigerian and the total regular work force being Nigerians. The entire company’s directors are Nigerians. Any foreign component found in our operations can only come when and if foreign representation is needed for purpose of Manufacturer Warranty endorsement, technology transfer of equipment demonstration processes.

Even at this, the workforce is continuously reinforced by qualified Nigerians who are given the opportunity of on the job training on the field and will either be absorbed into the working team or called upon from time to time depending on the job hand.  
This affords us the opportunity to continuously exceed the requirement of the Federal Governments Policy on our labor force on Nigerian Content.
The main thrusts of this policy therefore are:

For enhancement of harmonious relationship between the Company and host Communities with the aim to ultimately reduce operating costs, and shutdown culminating from unhealthy Company Community relationship, CALAYA ENG shall engage 60% of the non-skilled work-force from the Local/host Community. This engagement shall be subject to medical screening by a certified doctor from CALAYA
ENG retainer clinic, and certificate of fitness signed and dated by the doctor on annual basis.

CALAYA ENG shall engage a Community Liaison Officer who shall liaise between the Community and the Company on matters such as employment of indigenous workers and Community Development Projects. The implementation of the Community Relations Plan shall be the responsibility of the Community/Corporate Affairs Department. CALAYA ENG has it as a policy and function to manage Community affairs as an integral part of the Company's business with a view to maintaining good relationship between the Company and her host Community.

CALAYA ENG shall therefore cooperate and develop interface with the client and third parties to avoid unnecessary delays, shut down and of course unwarranted loss of man-hours. Prior to mobilization/movement to any locality, CALAYA ENG shall pay a visit to the
Community Chiefs and Leaders. Any Community disturbance or threat shall be reported to client without delay.
